What is Women KickSTART?

The Software Skillnet’s Women KickSTART Programme is specifically aimed at enthusiastic females who want a career opportunity in the growing IT sector.  It is designed to fast-track high potential jobseekers for new and exciting work in the sector.


This is a free programme and is run in partnership with our member companies.  The programme seeks women from all backgrounds who can work in a customer service role, solve problems, provide excellent service and work collaboratively with others. Its focus is to enhance these core skills and professional abilities, as well as to provide detailed technology training to  expand your opportunities in companies who provide technology products and services


The programme is open to jobseekers and graduates of any background who have a passion for technology and love solving problems in a team environment.  Over a period of 15 weeks, the KickSTART Programme will help you to:

  • Develop confidence and skills to take up technical support roles
  • Acquire new skills and qualifications in industry-leading technology
  • Gain internationally recognised certification
  • Benefit from real life work experience in a leading company
  • Emerge primed and ready for open roles and great career opportunities in the IT sector

With a 90% employment rate within a month of completion, and over 400 past participants now in exciting roles as technical support engineers, IT Analysts. Project managers, solutions engineers, IT sales associates and systems operations engineers, KickSTART is a gateway for job seekers to careers with top tech companies.

What does the Women KickSTART programme involve?

Runs full-time over 15 weeks.  Women KickSTART participants receive a combination of professional and technical skills training delivered by industry experts, alternating with work placements. Successful completion of the training programme will

  • Develop your personal workplace skills including interview skills, goal setting, speaking with confidence and presenting with impact
  • Develop your professional workplace skills including attributes to being a high performing team member, problem solving and customer services skills
  • Support you through workshops on CV, social media and interview skills to hone your recruitment potential
  • Provide you with a strong base of Technical skills across a number of areas including server, storage, VCP and ITIL
  • Support you to complete industry leading accreditation



Our preferred candidates will meet the criteria below. However, as the KickSTART programme provides comprehensive training, we strongly encourage all those interested to apply.  

            You should be

  • Enthusiastic, motivated and driven to undertake this intensive training
  • A good communicator
  • Creative, with problem-solving skills
  • A team player who enjoys working with people
  • Self-motivated
  • Passionate about technology

            We'd like you to have

  • Customer-facing experience, with a drive for customer success
  • Experience working as part of a team.

        Desirable, but not essential,                      education and Training

  • IT background not essential – we welcome all backgrounds with the right attributes.



KickSTART Dublin is open to unemployed women who are permitted to work in Ireland.

1. You must be unemployed (i.e. not currently working in a full time job). You do not need to be on the Live Register to apply.

2. You must hold either EU or EEA citizenship, or immigration permit (stamp 4).
