Technology leaders McAfee, Dell and Vmware have partnered with Software Skillnet to develop this transformative model and provide their expertise to guide participants through the programme and work-placements.
What to expect:
- 10 weeks pre-work training; 6-week instructor-led training, 3 weeks of intra company specialist training, 1 week Self-directed eLearning followed by 12 weeks of work placement.
- This program will develop participants' skills and knowledge in a broad range of technology themes, enabling success in the tech sector.
- A training and orientation program tailored to your needs to help acclimatize you to the work environment.
- Support from business mentors and from Software Skillnet throughout the proframme
Eligibility criteria
- TechStart is open to unemployed people who are seeking to return to work. You must not be in full-time employment.
- Have previous work experience within technology or transferable professional qualifications and experience.
- Be highly motivated and able to contribute and commit to the program for the duration of classroom and the placement.
Overview of the course structure
Work Toolkit
Professional Development Theme:
- Building confidence and resilience while returning to the workplace;
- Build personnel brand, understanding ‘self’ and appreciating various work styles;
- Know how to make an ‘impact’ at work;
- Developing a client-centric culture at work;
- Communication, Presentation Skills, Networking, and influencing skills;
Technology Skills
- Fundamentals in Database, SQL, Java essentials;
- Data science, Python analysis and Basic Machine learning;
- Fundamentals to cloud technologies including security and ethics;
- VCA – Digital Business Transformation.
Work Toolkit
- Project Management methodology and Agile best practice;
- Introduction to DevOps lifecycle;
- eLearning Subscription and assigned learning for 12 months;
- Mentor support for coaching for the duration of the program;
- CV and Interview preparation.
